Introducing taketake

Get to know us a little.

What does taketake do?

We help you share news of your "wants" and "haves" with your friends and the world. Give your take, participate in discussions and discover new interesting things you wouldn't otherwise.

Ever wondered what products your friends want or have? Did you not recently buy something cool and feel excited to share the news with your friends? Well, we help you do all that and more.

What do you guys stand for?

We support an open and free Internet—real net neutrality. We are also big believers in data portability and having the power in the hands of the users. We will soon be implementing a way for our users to export their data.

We are also open to partner with other companies who want, with the permission of our users, to have user data ported over other applications. We are working on an API that will allow that.

Why did you start taketake?

We like how conversations are spun from things we purchased or want to buy. We want to help initiate these conversations. We are also curious, we love to discover new things ourselves and are interested in the wants and haves of our friends and other people who influence us.

Who do you partner with?

We have partnered up with Woot!. They are amazing people and we are thrilled to have them as our first partner. We are always keen to partner up with retailers and manufacturers who would like to have a presence on our social platform. Interested? Contact us by email at cnegare@gnxrgnxr.pbz

What's different about taketake?

We are mapping your relationship with products you want and have. There are interesting things we can do with this "Taste Graph". By letting you bring your own Social Graph (Facebook, Twitter) into our Taste Graph, interesting and unique things can happen. It's early, we are still exploring a plethora of things here.

Where is your office located?

We rent a place in a co-working space in San Francisco when people in our team happen to be in the area. We plan on being more present in San Francisco as we grow the company.

We have an office in Chiang Mai, Thailand that a few of our team members are working from.

Why would someone want to work for taketake?

We are passionate people here. There isn't a day that goes by where we are not arguing or laughing, and discussing video games, gadgets, apps and tech. Someone who is into that stuff would fit right into our mindset; you'd be among friends and get to work on a fast-paced trying-to-change the world startup.

I dream-up big things and work hard to make it all happen. I spend my days plunged in UI design, marketing and analytics. When I'm not yelling at search engine result pages, hacking together servers or poking at something over SSH, you can find me watching movies, playing online games or out on a road trip.

Phil Michaud, Co-founder

I'm the one who makes taketake tick from the application level to managing our server farm. I started a gaming server rental service when I was 16. From there I moved into internet marketing and been working online since. On my free time, I like to improve my code and from time to time, play online games such as Final Fantasy XI and World of Warcraft.

Chonticha  I'm a graphic designer and I'm working on the cute illustrations you see everywhere. I'm a huge coffee lover; its greatness in the morning is bliss. I like crafting, painting, drawing and "iPhoneography". I like any game with Mario in it and Final Fantasy titles.

Kris  I'm a community ambassador at taketake. I'm curious and love tech. One day I will have tried everything that's on the web. I spend most of my day in front of the computer surfing Reddit (Hi Reddit!), tech blogs and game blogs. I talk a lot, make lame jokes and eat too much. I also love running.

Dan  I’m a curator at taketake. My love for technology and gadgets has led me to what I believe is where I truly belong. My idea of fun is spending time online browsing for what’s new in the techie world. Away from the computer I like to paint pictures through my camera.

EJ  I’m a curator at taketake. Together with my teammates I check that all postings are accurate and help you discover new things. I’m a little travel nut and visit new places and try things I’ve never done before. I enjoy learning from different cultures and immerse myself into different ways of life.

Matt  I lead the curator team at taketake. I ensure that all postings are accurate, dig up new things for our users to discover and coordinate the efforts of the entire team. People turn to me to get their computers or internet connections fixed (yes, I’m that guy). When I disconnect, I’m out watching movies and dining out.

Nikki  I’m a community ambassador at taketake. I heart fashion, shopping and love to discover new trendy things. I spend too much time on social networks and forums. I can’t seem to get away! When I do, you will find me drinking beer and listening to a live band somewhere.

Peter  I’m a community ambassador at taketake. I look after other taketakers like me and get excited about discovering all the wants and haves of the community. When the wallet allows, I go shopping for trendy accessories and gadgets. I stay up-to-date with tech news; my iPhone is fully loaded with tech podcasts.
